Should You Hire a Funeral Photographer?
Maybe you’ve never even considered it, but it’s something that many families wish to have when organizing the funeral of their loved one. When photographing a funeral, we make sure to cover all aspects of the memorial service, including the flowers, the guests, the details- big & small & even the wake, if desired. We take great care to make sure that all photographs are tasteful and respectful of the dead. We work with you to make sure the event is captured as you wish & can also provide advice if requested.
Like weddings, funerals are events where many family members are together for the first time in years. Choosing to have us photograph the funeral is a perfect way to document all of the great friends and family that came to pay their respects.
Funeral photography certain isn’t right for everyone & you should never feel pressured to have a photographer at your funeral. You should, however, know that there is no taboo that says you cannot have someone present at the funeral to document the services.
The Huffington Post has a great article about this subject. View it here.
How the process works
Funeral Photography is just one of many things to consider in a very short period of time. We have a simple system that makes it easy to hire us:
Step 1
A key family member, or the funeral home, contacts us to determine availability: info@tmjphoto.com or 213-318-8966
Step 2
We'll contact the family representative to find out what they would like photographed (family groups, the committal, the viewing, the wake). The family representative completes the form blow & makes the deposit for services.
Step 3
On the day of the funeral, we meet the family representative briefly prior to the funeral service and confirm what is required to be photographed. The funeral is then photographed with the utmost discretion. The remaining balance is due on or before the funeral date.
Step 4
Within 1 week, a gallery containing all images from the funeral is posted online & accessible to anyone with the link & password. The login info is emailed to the family representative & is shared at his/her discretion. The images will be high resolution jpegs & can be downloaded and used for personal use.
